Smoked caramel biscuit icecream

Photobucket

I was all excited to start the making and churning of ice-cream right after the hectic exam periods. It's always a thing for me to count down to the days where holidays officially starts for me. 3..2..1..... HOLIDAYS.

It used to be: Eating Ice-cream makes me happy
Now it should be: Making Ice-cream makes me happy
Or it could be: Eating and Making Ice-cream is pure bliss

Photobucket

Noticed the word "smoked". It's kinda funny, because while separating the egg yolks from the egg whites, the creams were actually cooking under low heat. It was pretty low, and the bottom burnt slightly. YES, how careless right? Certainly, it was a blessing in disguise :D Because my dad claimed it was more aromatic. Along with the fragrance of the vanilla and caramel biscuits. Make sure you spam your biscuits like me. Not 3 or 5, but plenty. The kids would love it. I'm sure :)

One packet is not enough. Make sure you get one for the ice-cream, and the other packet for consuming it naked. It has 8 smaller packets inside so it's very convenient to bring it around as snacks. Goes along well with a hot cup of coffee. That bitter and sweet combination.... yummy!

CHURROS
"bake" this if you're too lazy to switch on the oven

Photobucket

Basically I wasn't really in the mood for the oven kind of baking today. I wanted to do it by steaming or frying. YES, so I searched through the net and found this!
The first Churros I ate was way back then, when I was in Korea for a holiday. It was crispy at the outside and the inside tasted like a flavorful bread. I remember it was in one of the theme park I had my first churros.

Oreo cheesecake- too good to be true

Photobucket

This cake was baked for my Muslim classmate. You know I came from a Chinese school, a christian school so I hardly have any Muslim friends. So this was a big challenge to me- baking a HALAL cake.

My other classmates told me that the utensils I use are not suppose to touch pork at all. And also the ingredients used has to be halal. Fortunately, I hate baking cakes which requires gelatin, so the ingredients were safe. I had to be extra careful with the utensils though. I did not use the chopping stone this time. Instead, I used a plastic bag and roller to crush the Oreo. And also I melted my butter using a microwave instead of a double boiler.

I brought the cake to seoul garden (where we celebrated her birthday) and after a super heavy meal, everyone still ate the cake and they were full of compliments.

One of my classmate asked "Where did you all buy the cake from?"
I was stunned, and exclaimed "I baked it!!"
I was really happy though.

I hereby wish my classmate, A HAPPY 17TH BIRTHDAY!

Chocolate Fudge Cake

choc fudge4

It was my maid's birthday last Saturday and I baked her this cake.
I couldn't make it a surprise because she was in the kitchen when I was baking it for her.
(she was cooking lunch for dad and sister)
Nevertheless, she was happy to receive the cake from me :)

This is a picture of her cutting the cake :)

Chocolates have always been my favorite tidbit. I indulge in these sinful little thing, and I can eat tons and tons of them and not get sick of it. I think that partly explains why my diet plans never succeeded!

These chocolate fudge cake is just heavenly.

You must be wondering what's the brown thing at the side and in between the cakes, right?
They are actually crushed graham crackers.
she really like those crackers so I decided to add some of them.
And i realise the contrast of the colour made this cake looked even better! :)

Can i say.... "I'm over the heaven" cos it's not only "I'm in heaven"

My first food blog

This would be my first post on this newly created food blog.
I've decided to create this blog to share with you the desserts I bake or the food I cook.
I'm a seventeen year old girl, and I certainly enjoy being in the kitchen.

Mua Chee (Mochi)

How bout sharing with you this snack made by me on a happy Thursday evening?
This is called Mua chee, a simple snack made up of glutinous rice flour and ground peanuts.

Mua chee

muachee4

This is so easy to make, it wouldn't take you more than 30 minutes!
Since it is made up of glutinous rice flour, you should expect this sticky and chewy texture.

So here's the recipe to share!

Ingredients

200 g Glutinous Rice Flour
300 ml Water
1 Tbsp Vegetable or Peanut Oil
A pinch of Salt
100 g Roasted Peanuts, coarsely ground
25 g Sugar

Method

Combine glutinous rice flour, water, salt, and mix until well combined. Steam the mixture on high heat for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, combine the ground peanuts and sugar.

Remove the glutinous rice mixture from the steamer and let cool briefly, about 5 minutes. Knead the dough until smooth and elastic for about 5 minutes.

Pinch or cut the dough and toss into the peanut mixture. Serve immediately.

Serves 6 to 8

*you want your peanut to be finely grounded
*consider adding more sugar as it would enhance the flavor as peanuts might be bitter
